In 2011, Ed and Emily Love were inspired by God to establish a church in the heart of Ionia, MI. Joined by a group of adventurous individuals who shared their passion for reaching the community, they embarked on this remarkable journey. After studying John 4, the group unanimously agreed to name this new church “The Well,” symbolizing the deep spiritual nourishment found in Christ. Fall of 2011 marked the beginning of The Well, where we gathered for worship, prayer, and the study of God’s Word. In November 2012, the gracious former First Baptist Church of Ionia donated their facility, and our first worship service in the new space took place on December 23rd, 2012.
In the summer of 2016, Ed was called to extend his impact in the church planting movement at a national level within the Wesleyan Church of North America. Simultaneously, Joel Leipprandt, who had been serving as a pastoral intern, assumed the role of Lead Pastor. Then, in the spring of 2020, Joel received a calling to pastor in Traverse City.
In February 2021, Joshua Cahill was called to step into the position of Lead Pastor. Pastor Joshua and Briana Cahill bring with them a wealth of ministry experience, coupled with an unyielding desire to witness the Lord’s revival in Ionia. Pastor Joshua’s heart beats to guide people in connecting with Christ through the ordinary moments of life.
